Here I am on the sofa – in my pants. Scary!
It’s 00:43 am and it’s day one of my little experiment.
From today, for 365 days I’m going to attempt to write on blog a day about anything. Could be about work, family, religion, politics, etc. Who knows! Let’s see where the mood takes me.
I do have other blogs but they’re a little more specialist. I’m doing this not only because I feel the urge to write, but I’ve purchased this server for a year and I need to do something with it. 
So anyway, work was both good and bad today.
In my new role (Infrastructure and Deployment Manager) I finally gained access to the Cisco load balancers and firewalls in order to make some changes for the Black Rat project. I really enjoyed getting back into the networking side again and it’s great to have mastery of such a black art as load balancing.
On the other side of the coin though I had a staff giving me grief over our security. It’s not as if his suggestions were unworthy per-say, but ignoring me and the senior system engineers isn’t the way to influence people and gain respect. Nor is trying to go over my head directly to my boss. (good boss though he is. in fact the boss told him to talk to me. heh heh) Anyway, in short I hopefully put down the rebellion without being to mean I hope. He’s a good guy – just needs to learn how to control his enthusiasm and work with the system.
